Building Management Systems Market Opportunities And Future Scope

The concept of Building Management come into focus now a days. The term Building Automation or Building Management means that electrical, electronic and mechanical instruments along with lighting, security, heating, cooling, ventilation, elevators, air conditioning and water supply systems which are grouped and operates under a common operating surface.

Building Management System serves the advanced functionality to the building using distributed control systems. Building management system gain the focus because of it's ability to reduce energy use and operations and maintenance cost , while improving the indoor environment. In order to achieve this ability these systems typically use a wide range of sensors. Advanced lighting controls system has high energy savings ability. To achieve savings on lighting systems, the daylight must be harvested i.e the electricity which is used by lights must be reduced even maintaining minimum light levels. Presently, buildings can be modeled to be daylit and technologies exist to dim and turn off lights.

 Advantages of Building Automation :
  1. control on internal comfort conditions.
  2. Chances of individual room control.
  3. Increased staff efficiency and productivity.
  4. Central or remote control and monitoring of building.
  5. Computerized maintenance scheduling.
  6. Quality use of maintenance staff.
  7. Early detection of problems.
  8. Improved monitoring and targeting of energy consumption.
  9. Flexibility on change of building use.
  10. Individual tenant billing for services facilities manager.
Buildings may suffer from disasters for example fire, power outages, and deliberate attacks; among others. Buildings are presently required to have systems dedicated to control smoke and fire that typically respond by sprinkling and quickly altering building air systems to prevent spreading.Natural/hybrid ventilation schemes present new control problems that are complicated because they span many systems that are not self-contained.There is a need for control strategies for advanced natural and hybrid ventilation schemes that maintain indoor air quality and thermal comfort while minimizing energy use. These strategies might use data from sensors ranging from carbon dioxide(and other pollutant sensors), to air velocity, ambient weather, occupancy,window/damper positions, etc.
